Set amid a collection of unique beach chalets, The Surf House offers stylish and comfortable accommodation for up to six. It’s been created with a surfing lifestyle and easy outdoor living in mind. Stay at Gwithian Towans, three miles of epic beach, equally perfect for family holidays and surf trips.
Please note, winter weeks may be available on a request basis, so please call or email us to find out more.
The Surf House is a purpose built beachside holiday home and offers reverse level accommodation with the living space on the first floor to take advantage of views west over St Ives Bay. It is well equipped with everything you need for a surf-style holiday or just chilling out by the sea.
In and around The Surf House
You’ll step into a light and bright holiday home, lovingly built with natural wood. The Surf House is decorated in a palette of blues and whites for a relaxing breezy feel, with original artworks and thoughtful fixtures, fittings and facilities. Heading straight up the stairs you’ll enter a single open-plan living space incorporating lounge, dining and kitchen areas. The space takes advantage of the view across the bay with floor to ceiling windows and a Juliet balcony, facing west — perfect for checking the sea-state of just loosing yourself in the sunset (which are often spectacular here).
You have a high quality fitted kitchen, very well equipped to rustle up après-surf nourishment, a lovely Habitat oak dining table and benches seating six, an L-shaped sofa for four plus two beanbags for younger ones, a great Chili Penguin log-burner to cosy up after a session in the sea or a long winter storm-watching beach walk, and even a fold-away mini-office-space if you need to keep in touch with the real world.
Downstairs are the two bedrooms. The master bedroom has an en suite shower room with a large walk-in waterfall shower. The second bedroom sleeps up to four in a combination of two double beds and a single bunk-bed above one of them. A family bathroom with a shower over the bath completes the accommodation.
Outside and in the area
You have a sheltered passageway beside The Surf House with a hot/cold surf shower to make it easy to get out of the wetsuit and wash away the sand. In front is a small sunny area for alfresco dining and barbecues. You have a private parking space to the front of the property (additional private space at rear available on request) a few yards away. Of course this place is all about being out on the beach, and Gwithian is one of the very best. You’ll find a huge sweeping beach, seasonally lifeguarded. It slopes gently into the sea making it a great place to learn to surf, windsurf, kite-board or SUP (there are several good surf schools based here to get you started). But more… there are rockpools in abundance and an ever-changing sand-scape making this an engaging playground for children and a wonderfully revitalising place to walk. The beach is backed by a labyrinth of unique rollicking sand dunes (the ‘Towans’) and the whole landscape stretches three miles all the way from Hayle estuary in one direction to iconic Godrevy headland and lighthouse in the other.
Things we love …
This place has been created to take your cares away and replace them with amazing memories of untamed seas, ever-changing skies, wildlife and laughter. The owners are passionate about surf sports and built The Surf House after falling in love with the beach and waves at Gwithian. This is evident in the way the building has been designed and created. You’ll easily slip into the right vibe. We love the open-plan living space where you will share good times and make memories, and especially the well thought out kitchen and the cool log-burner for cooler nights. We love the bedroom set-up with a big sociable family-friendly second bedroom, and the great bathrooms including the big en-suite shower. But most of all it’s being right by the sea — strolling to the surf café for breakfast, spending long days on the beach and in the water, watching the sun set and walking up to the village pub after
