Previously the home of both fishermen and artists, Men an Mor Cottage is set in a terrace of traditional St Ives houses in a quiet street. The property is on three floors, all of which have amazing views. You also have use of a private traditional Porthminster Beach Cabin, useful for storing your beach paraphernalia for the week (seasonal Easter hols to Autumn half term inclusive).
Inside Men and Mor Cottage
Stepping in to the cottage you will find the lounge with its large window facing the sea. To the left you will see St Ives harbour and across the bay is Gwithian and Godrevy lighthouse. At low tide a vast beach of pure sand will stretch before you. It will be hard not to spend a great deal of time here watching boats and the tide come and go! There is also a large sofa and an LCD TV with Freeview, DVD player and a large selection of DVDs and books.
When not taking advantage of the many St Ives restaurants on your doorstep, you will find the kitchen fully equipped to cater for all your needs. You’ll have a double Belfast sink, oak and granite work surfaces and all the usual modern requirements including a large fan oven, ceramic hob, fridge, dishwasher, free standing freezer, washing machine and separate tumble drier. There is a dining table seating eight.
On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one with spectacular seaviews and a king-size bed, where you can sleep to the sound of the sea. The second bedroom has zip and link beds (which can either be two singles or zipped together to make a king). There are also two shower rooms on this floor.
The third bedroom is in the loft on the top floor, again with outstanding seaviews. This room is L shaped and has a king-sized bed, double sofa-bed and cot on request. There is an LCD TV and DVD player.
Out and about
Men an Mor Cottage is situated on the seaward side of the Warren. Step out of the door turn left and walk in moments to the pale golden sands of Porthminster beach and its famous café. Porthminster has a distinctly tropical feel and is an award winning Blue Flag beach and is sheltered and lifeguarded in season. Turn right and again follow the coast, only a few short paces to the harbour and town with art galleries, eateries and lots of little shops. By night St Ives comes alive with seafood restaurants and open fronted bars. So whether it’s culture, beach-life or browsing you are after, this is the perfect place to be. The vast beaches of Godrevy, Gwithian and Porthkidney are just across the bay and the delights of West Penwith and Lands End are not much further. We think Men an Mor Cottage is hard to beat.
Things we love
Men an Mor Cottage has previously been home to both fishermen and artists. The inspirational views create a wonderful and atmospheric place for a holiday in St Ives Cornwall. Holiday cottages like Men an Mor Cottage are perfect for holidays at any time of the year. In the winter stay warm inside whilst watching the waves crash over the rocks below. During fine weather, look out over the azure blue sea or walk the few steps to the golden sands of Porthminster beach.Relax on the window seat and watch the world go by, boats moving in and out of the harbour, the lifeboat launch and various wildlife including seals, dolphins and cormorants.
