If you are looking for a sweet, conveniently located Cornish cottage, with plenty to explore nearby then Tregenna Cottage is for you. Situated between Tregenna Castle grounds and Knill’s Hill, there are vast expanses of countryside to explore but you will also be just minutes from the seaside town of St Ives, with art galleries, independent shops and eateries in abundance. Taking everything you need of a holiday home into consideration, the owners of Tregenna Cottage have thought of it all and made it a real “home from home”. This cosy retreat is a 15 minute walk from nearby Carbis Bay, and about 20 minutes walk from the beaches in St Ives itself.
Inside Tregenna Cottage
The cottage is centrally heated and is comfy and uncluttered. Carefully chosen fabrics in the cottage give it a contemporary feel — the colours were inspired by the lichen-covered rooftops of St Ives and the grey and blue sky combination you often see there. Through the front door to you left you will find the well equipped kitchen, with ample work space for preparing the best local produce, and a country-style dining table and four chairs. On the other side of the hallway there is a cosy living area with a traditionally styled electric fire, plenty of seating for four guests and a flat screen TV.
As you head upstairs you will find two beautifully presented bedrooms with vintage style furniture. The master bedroom overlooking Knill’s Hill, has a double bed and plenty of storage. On the other side of the landing is the twin room, which is airy, fun and elegant, flooded with natural light and with two single beds. This has views of the large garden and beyond up Knill’s Hill. The bathroom with shower is bright and fresh and completes the accommodation.
The garden and surrounds
Tregenna Cottage is set beside the original farmhouse. The owners, who are also the housekeepers for the cottage, live there. They will usually be on hand should you have any questions or needs, but will of course respect your privacy. The cottage — whilst it is not directly connected to the garden, the owners are more than happy for their guests to use the top garden of the main farmhouse, which is situated to the side of the cottage and behind the main property. It is accessed through a garden gate adjacent to the front door of the cottage. It is a spacious, enclosed lawned garden with a sunny aspect and has views of open countryside and Knills Monument. There is a swing seat to sit and relax on in the sun, a barbecue and table and chairs for alfresco dining.
The centre of St Ives is just a 15 minute walk away, as are a choice of beaches including Carbis Bay, Porthminster and Porthmeor. There are also walks between Carbis Bay and St Ives following the coastal path and with amazing views across the bay and past the Godrevy Lighthouse — and even a footpath you can follow all the way to Mount’s Bay on the south coast if you have the energy!
Things we love…
One of the great things about Tregenna Cottage is its location. Those who love St Ives (who doesn’t!?), but who want to be able to get out and about easily will find this setting very appealing. That, combined with the large garden, and its immediate access to footpaths gives Tregenna Cottage immediate family, walker and doggie appeal. We think it’s a rather unique combination and hope you’ll love it as much as we do.
