When it comes to bonfire night, Cornwall certainly knows how to put on a show. From displays at some of Cornwall’s most iconic locations to local community events up and down the county, there’s always plenty going on. If you find yourself in the Duchy this weekend and are looking for somewhere to catch some fireworks, here’s our round up of the best fireworks displays in Cornwall.
North Cornwall
Newquay Fireworks, Newquay Leisure Centre — Saturday 4th November
Last year over 5,000 people attend this fireworks display in the coastal town of Newquay, on Cornwall’s north coast. Tickets can be bought online in advance (£2.50 per ticket). There’s plenty of entertainment for all ages, with six bars, food stalls, an inflatable fun fair for kids, a huge cinema screen, plus a DJ and an after party.
Fistral Beach Fireworks — Sunday 5th November
Hosted by Fistral Beach Bar right on the beach, this annual fireworks display in Cornwall’s Newquay starts at 6.15pm. For the best view, book a table in the bar where you can munch on delicious food and warming drinks as you watch the colours spread over the water in front.
Bonfire and Fireworks, Plume of Feathers in Mitchell — Sunday 5th November
This traditional bonfire and fireworks display at the Plume of Feathers pub in a pretty village near Newquay kicks off at 7.30pm but arrive earlier for mulled cider and pulled pork rolls. Tickets are £5 for adults, kids go free.
West Cornwall
Porthminster Beach, St Ives — Sunday 5th November
This annual fundraiser held each year on Porthminster Beach is one of the best fireworks displays in Cornwall — and certainly the most atmospheric. This isn’t a ticketed event but donations on the night are very welcome. If you’re feeling peckish afterwards, head to the award-winning Porthminster Beach Cafe for some delicious grub.
Fireworks at Hayle Cricket Club, Hayle — Saturday 4th November
Expect a bar, seasonal food and plenty of bonfire themed activities for children to get involved in at this community event in the centre of Hayle.
South Cornwall
Fireworks at Falmouth Cricket Ground — Sunday 5th November
This year’s fundraising display hosted by the fire station in the maritime town of Falmouth promises to be the biggest and best yet, with local Choas Radio providing the entertainment and hot food and drinks available to buy. There will also be a children’s fairground ride to keep little ones entertained.
The Lizard Fireworks Extravaganza, The Lizard Rec, the Lizard Peninsula — Friday 3rd November
Possibly the most southerly fireworks display in Cornwall, the gates for this bonfire and fireworks extravaganza held in Lizard village open at 6pm, with fireworks starting at 7pm. It’s a free event but donations are always welcomed. Hot food and drinks will be available to buy on the night.
