This cove is home to the famous ‘monkey hut’, it was washed away in the 2012 storms and recently re-built in its original place at the end of the harbour wall.

You’ll look out at Gull Rock to the western end of the beach. This sandy inlet is family friendly and allows dogs 1st October – Easter Saturday.

Forever Cornwall Portreath Surfers

Portreath (meaning ‘sandy cove’ in Cornish), was vital in the tin mining industry in the Camborne and Redruth area. The original quay (built in 1760) was extended in 1846 to expand business to this part of Cornwall. The harbour was also used by the pilchard fishermen, some fishermen still work from this harbour today.
