The Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek rescue and rehabilitate lots of injured seals throughout the county everyday. Most rescued seals are returned to the wild, however some stay at the sanctuary for the remainder of their lives for their own safety meaning there is always a great selection of animals to watch play and feed.
Located on the banks of the helford river, the view and the walks through the woodland and around the sanctuary make it a full day of entertainment. There is also a cafe, gift shop and tractor to ferry you around the site. You can also experience the hospital, underwater chamber and rockpool area.
The sanctuary has expanded since opening in the 70’s and now has a wide variety of animals, not just seals! These include, Californian and Patagonian Sea Lions, the Sanctuary also provides a much-needed haven for a variety of other animals such as Otters, Penguins, Sheep, Ponies and Goats.
The seal sanctuary also allows well behaved dogs, making it an even more family friendly attraction.
