Accessibility & Inclusivity policy

We aim to treat everyone equally and to be as accessible and inclusive as we can. This policy sets out what we’ve done, as well as what we are doing, to make things better. It covers properties, website and general communications. If you have any comments or feedback please don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can find out how at the bottom of this page.

Use of language

Everything we publish is in “plain English” which means that it should be easy to understand first time. This includes our website information and emails.

We’ve tried to make our Terms and Conditions as clear as possible, however legal language is not easy for anyone to understand, unless you are a lawyer. Because of that we have written Policies covering most of the things guests need to know in plain English. These form part of the contract (which you must agree to in order to book) but are separate documents which makes them easier to navigate and read.

If anything is not clear we are happy to explain anything on the phone or by email, or to make changes to written information online or in documents to make things better.

Website Accessibility

This accessibility statement applies to our website www.forevercornwall.co.uk. We want as many people as possible to be able to use our website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen.
  • Increase contrast, make your cursor bigger, and adjust colours in your computer preferences.
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS and NVDA on PC and VoiceOver on Apple Mac).

We know some parts of our website are not fully accessible, for example, our booking forms may be difficult to navigate using just a keyboard. We can help by taking your booking over the phone on 01326 567838.

What we’re doing to improve website accessibility

We are currently checking our site against WCAG 2.1 standards with the aim of improving accessibility.

Property accessibility

Each of our properties is unique. Some are newly built and conform to current building regulations with good accessibility standards, however many are old and may not be suitable for all guests. This may be because of steep stairs, narrow doorways, or small rooms. To help you find out what you need to know:

  • Each property has a detailed general description on the website as well as a facilities list and comprehensive photos.
  • We can give detailed accessibility information for any property, if you ask. Sometimes this means we need to check details with property owners, which we are always happy to do. We are always happy to temporarily reserve a property for you for up to 48 hours while we answer any specific accessibility questions. If we do this you do not have an obligation to book.
  • We are in the process of writing accessibility summaries for each property. Where available these can be found in the facilities list on the relevant property page.

Inclusivity

We welcome guests of all backgrounds, irrespective of race, colour, religion, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability and marital status. We believe that our guests, as well as all other stakeholders including neighbours owners, housekeepers and staff, should be treated with the same dignity and respect, therefore:

  • We kindly ask you to respect the residents of neighbouring properties, not to cause any disturbance, and to make sure things are quiet before 8am and after 11pm.
  • Please treat housekeepers and any other staff or tradespeople who you may meet or talk to with dignity and respect at all times.
  • We ask you to keep the property reasonably clean and tidy during your stay.
  • Always talk nicely to our staff whether on the phone or in emails.

Reporting accessibility problems and giving feedback

If you find any problems or think could do better, or if you need information in a different format, we’ll do what we can to help. Please contact Hannah Wilson-May, Office Manager at Forever Cornwall on info@forevercornwall.co.uk or phone 01326 567838.
