Cornwall’s Best Burgers

Burger Half Size

With seafood, cream teas and pasties being the perceived staple diet in Cornwall, people don’t tend to seek out the burger places – and they absolutely should. There are numerous spots all over the county where you can get really amazing burgers to suit everyone’s tastes, with vegan options becoming more and more delicious and traditional burgers being given a Cornish spin. Take a look at our favourites…

  1. Hubbox
St Ives, St Austell, TruroHot dogs, nachos and chicken burgers are all on the menu at Hubbox – and with three locations in Cornwall, each one has a slightly different twist to the menu. Make sure you try the barbecue section at the St Ives branch, or simply go for the signature Big Kahuna – whilst leaving room for a perfectly poured local ale!
  2. BooKoo’s
Helston (and soon to be Falmouth)Ideally placed for Mount’s Bay, Lizard and The Helford properties, BooKoo’s is a bit of a surreal experience. This tiny burger bar has only a few tables, so booking is a must – but it is so worth it. You can enjoy authentic American beers, and the most amazing American-style burgers (plus the chips are to-die-for). Kids will love the menu choice (and the insane amount of milkshakes on offer), and adults will marvel at the retro decor that transports you from the middle of an ancient Cornish market town to Texas – thanks to the authentic touches of Texan owner Lisa and husband David.
  3. WAX Newquay
Newquay town centreThis cocktail bar and restaurant boasts contemporary industrial interiors and great food – they don’t just specialise in burgers but boy, do they know how to cook them. With a modest choice of four burgers, including one (utterly delicious) falafel burger, and one serious challenge, the Beast Burger, all tastes are catered to. Give it a go – they all come with some heavenly onion rings too!Burgers Generic
  4. The Meat Counter
FalmouthA personal favourite, this is one of Falmouth’s coolest eateries. With craft ales on tap and a menu that will leave you spoilt for choice, good luck deciding what to indulge in at The Meat Counter. Our personal favourite? The Simply Chicken Burger and Cajun fries. A match made in heaven.
  5. The Slipway Cafe
Port IsaacThis harbourside cafe has an ever-changing menu, but usually featuring on that menu is the Port Isaac Burger. A simple creation with the addition of creamy brie cheese, this is a no-frills affair that simply hits the spot – and in a killer location too, overlooking the working harbour of Port Isaac. There are plenty of other delicacies on the menu too, featuring lots of fresh fish – but do give the burger a go.Port Isaac Harbour and Beach
