Dune Lodge is positioned to overlook miles of wild sand dunes. With no immediate neighbouring properties save for the main house, this a very unique and special property for Gwithian.
You will approach the property through private gates (shared only with Dune House) and find your holiday home set in a large lawned garden. The open-plan living, dining and kitchen areas are located on the second floor, which really makes the most of the spectacular views over the bay and surrounding countryside. You have your own sheltered balcony area accessed via sliding doors from the living area. Down the beautiful oak stairs are a king-sized double master bedroom with en-suite, and a twin, along with a separate family bathroom.
Inside Dune Lodge
Entering the property you will want to head straight for the first floor up the oak staircase. Here you will find one spacious open area with a dramatic vaulted ceiling, beautifully designed to take advantage of the westerly views over the bay to St Ives, and easterly views over the farmland to the pretty village of Gwithian and the rolling Cornish hills beyond.
The large, luxury kitchen and dining area for six (allowing for dining guests), and comfortable lounge area are all here. You have a beautiful contemporary Morsø wood burner for winter nights, a large Smart TV, and a dramatic glazed doors sliding open to give access to your private balcony which has rattan seating for two — ideal for enjoying a tipple of choice whilst watching the sunset over the sea’s horizon.
Downstairs are two comfortable and snug bedrooms. The master has a king-sized bed and an adjoining en suite shower room. Next to this is a twin bedroom with two single beds that can be zip-and-linked together to make a super-king sized bed if you prefer this option. A luxury family bathroom completes the accommodation, with beautiful stone tiling, Villeroy and Boch fittings, and a waterfall shower over the bath.
Outside Dune Lodge
Outside you have a large lawned garden that catches sun from morning to mid afternoon, with furniture and barbecue for al fresco dining, and a large shed for storing beach gear. You will be able to walk to the huge beach at Gwithian in around five minutes via meandering pathways through the sand dunes. Choose between heading for the popular main beach with its café, equipment hire, and seasonal lifeguards— or the vast expanses of sand between Gwithian and Hayle, where you can enjoy as much space as you could wish for. The coastal path leads off in both directions and you can stroll as far or as near as you like. Wildlife is abundant here, so be on the lookout for seals, a myriad of sea-birds and sometimes dolphins…
Things we love …
Dune Lodge has been stunningly architect-designed and built with exceptional detailing using sympathetic local materials. The imaginative layout, clever use of architectural glazing, and first-floor balcony provides privacy to the property. The generous outdoor space on all sides (a rare feature in Gwithian) together with ample parking, make this probably the most unique accommodation choice in the area. Dune Lodge is all about the view, and the reverse level design brings out the best. On warm days you can sit on the balcony with a tipple, and on cold days you can pull the huge glazed doors shut and hunker down next to the fire. Either option offers views straight out to the ocean over the dunes — the sunsets over St Ives Bay are legendary.
If you want to put a bit of space between yourself and the world, then Dune Lodge is for you. Equally you are moments from Sunset Surf Cafe or the village for when you want good food and company. Dune Lodge is a lovely combination of indulgence and practicality.
